Parnassus founders, Claire and Sam Beaumont, run a regenerative farm in the Lake District. Driven by the desire to reduce waste and create a fully circular economy, as well a love for timeless fashion, they developed Parnassus Leather. A fully traceable, sustainable luxury leather brand.
Parnassus Leather began with a simple question from a beef customer - could one of our farm’s hides be fully processed and returned to its source? The answer set us on an extraordinary journey, learning about the once thriving leather industry in the UK, of which only a handful of extraordinary businesses remain. We discovered that most hides in our area were being discarded, their stories lost forever. The hides were considered a burden to the abattoir, a sector within farming that is already under a lot of pressure. Determined to change that, we embarked on creating leather that honours the environment, livestock, and farming practices associated with its creation. By collecting hides from Lake District farms that share our values of care, biodiversity, and regeneration, we give customers a true choice to buy leather with a known, traceable provenance. Each hide is treated with respect from start to finish. Sourced, tanned, finished, and crafted entirely in the UK using traditional, sustainable methods. At its heart, Parnassus is about rebuilding connections - between farming, craftsmanship, and community. What began with a care for the land has grown into a wider commitment to supporting local farmers, traditional tanneries, and small British makers. It’s about keeping skills alive, paying fairly, and creating something beautiful that strengthens the industry we’re proud to be part of. Parnassus Leather is a regenerative business that stretches beyond our farm gate and supports and champions small businesses across the UK.
Choosing Parnassus Leather means you are choosing to support a whole movement towards a more sustainable future for fashion. So our leather range doesn't just look beautiful, it also makes you feel great.
Our story starts on our farm. Gowbarrow Hall Farm sits in breathtakingly beautiful landscape and has been in the family for nearly 50 years. The passion for maintaining the natural beauty of our surroundings and enriching the wildlife that falls within it is the driver behind every decision we make. We are Pasture for Life and Organic certified. We manage our cattle using regenerative methods, and their presence on the land is helping to restore our habitats and improve our precious ecosystem. Creating a sustainable future for hides from our beef cattle is the next step in our regenerative farming journey.
